An anonymous caller pulls Lin Ya into a game of missions — bonuses, promotions, and buried wishes arrive like sugarcoating. For the first time she feels seen, and for the first time she hands her life to an unseen opponent.
Without resistance she drifts toward numbness. She believes she is winning until tasks cross the lines of safety and conscience; the cost rolls from ledgers toward lives. The game never pauses — only now she cannot tell if she plays winner or prey.
